What Does This Privacy Policy Cover?

This privacy policy covers (SpeechEase)'s treatment of personally identifiable information that SpeechEase collects when you are on the SpeechEase site, and when you use SpeechEase services. This policy does not apply to the practices of companies that SpeechEase does not own or control, or to people that SpeechEase does not employ or manage.

What Information is Collected and How is it Used?

SpeechEase collects personally identifiable information when you register for a SpeechEase account, when you use SpeechEase services, and when you visit SpeechEase pages. When you register with SpeechEase, we ask for your name and email address. Once you register and sign in to our services, you are not anonymous. SpeechEase automatically receives and records information on our server logs from your browser including your IP Address, SpeechEase cookie information, the page you requested, and certain browser information. SpeechEase uses this information for these general purposes:
  • to track your progress on the SpeechEase site and in SpeechEase services,
  • to customize the content you see,
  • to allow tournament managers to contact you,
  • to provide notifications about tournaments,
  • to provide information about tournament results,
  • and to contact you about new services or products.
SpeechEase collects information on tournament participants when you enter their information in your roster. SpeechEase discloses the name of participants registered for a tournament to:
  • the tournament manager of the tournaments you attend,
  • tournament tab room personnel of the tournaments you attend,
  • and website visitors if the tournament manager has made results public.
Students, their parents/guardians, schools, and coaches have the right to opt-out of public results. Contact support AT to request that a student name(s) that should not appear in public tournament results. Schools and coaches should make the request from their official school email. Parents/guardians and students should contact their coach to make the request on their behalf. If a coach is no longer available, an email should be sent to support AT with the following:
  • student name
  • school name with city and state
  • the individual's relationship to the student
  • A statement of the accuracy of the notice and, under penalty of perjury, that the requesting party is authorized to act on the behalf of the student.

Is My Information Shared or Disclosed?

SpeechEase will share your information with tournament managers for the sole purpose of contacting you for that specific tournament. SpeechEase makes a good faith effort to ensure that all prospective tournament managers are affiliated with a school or speech team prior to allowing these entities to access this information. SpeechEase may share your information with coaches who attempt to register you as a judge at a tournament or attempt to add you as a coach for a school they administer. SpeechEase does not sell or rent your personally identifiable information to any other entities. SpeechEase may send personally identifiable information about you to other companies or persons if: we respond to subpoenas, court orders, or legal process, and/or we find that your actions on our web sites violate the SpeechEase Terms of Use or any other usage guidelines.

SpeechEase uses Google Analytics to determine how users are using the website, and to improve our services. Information shared may include your IP address, which may allow SpeechEase to determine your rough geographic location, and information about your web browser and website views to help us determine what features on our website should be implemented, as well as for troubleshooting. No personally identifiable information is shared in this process, and individuals cannot be identified in our use of Google Analytics. When you login to SpeechEase, your sessions may be tied to a user identification number, a random number assigned to your account. This is used by SpeechEase to determine how users interact with the website before and after a login and to determine if certain devices may be causing problems for our users. You may opt out of Google Analytics. SpeechEase uses Google to advertise SpeechEase on Google websites and affiliated search network partners. Your data is shared with Google to determine conversion rates of advertising campaigns. Does SpeechEase Use Cookies?

SpeechEase may set and access SpeechEase cookies on your computer. Interfering with cookies is strictly against the Terms of Use, and may result in limitation or termination of your SpeechEase account without notice. Cookies we use include:

SpeechEase may amend this policy from time to time. If we make any substantial changes in the way we use your personal information, an update will be posted to this page.
