High School events :
ADS, DI, DUO, Extemp, HI, Impromptu, Improv (duet) , INFO, OO, Pantomime, POE, POI, PRO, Story, TV, PFD, Panther Tales, Congress Congress bills are due on the 12th
Panther Tales is a unique event for our tournament. You will draw three situations and pick one. You can have up to 3 minutes prep and must speak at least 3 minutes. You must plead your case about your situation to the judges as if they are the person of authority.
Examples: Plead your case to the police officer why you went straight through the round about.
Plead your case to your principal why you threw rubber ducks off the school roof.
````The finalist will all receive lollipops--for the biggest "suck ups"
Middle School events:
Duet Acting , DEC , Impromptu, Improv (duet), HI, DI, Prose, Poetry , Storytelling, Extemp, OO,TV
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU REGISTER FOR THE RIGHT DIVISION
THSSDL rules will be followed for each event. Each school can bring unlimited entries in each event. Tripling will be allowed with the exception of competitors in TV, Extemp, Congress and PFD. TV, Congress and Extemp competitors will be allowed to double but not in both. PFD will not be allowed to double. If you need improv rules just let me know.
Middle School Rules will be sent out to those schools.
Please note that registration is a TWO-STEP process. Please pre-register on SpeechEase.com before the Pre-Registration Deadline noted in this invitation. This will help us determine the total number of schools attending. Your final registration must be received by the Registration Deadline.

A limited number of hired judges are available at a cost of $25.
Entry fees are 10.00 per person and there will be a 25.00 charge for each uncovered judge. Please make checks payable to Portland High School c/o Linda Starnes. Drops and Adds after the deadline will have a nuisance fee.
One judge for every 6 entries or a fraction thereof. One judge for every 2 debate teams will be required. Judges will be expected to be available for the entire competition. Lunch will be provided.
Drops/Adds after the deadline will be charged the entry fee plus the nuisance fee of 10.00.
There will be judge's lounge provided for coaches, judges and bus drivers. Concessions and lunch will be sold to the competitors, parents and guests. Since this a fundraiser, please support us by staying on campus during lunch.
We will give Sweepstakes awards for the top 3 schools. There will also be individual awards for the top 6 speakers.

If inclement weather should cause cancellation of the tournament, we, along with our principal will make that determination by 6:00 AM on the day of the tournament. If your school has confirmed its entry and decides not to attend and the tournament is held., your school is still responsible for all fees and judges.
