Fellow Coach,

It is a pleasure to invite your school to the The Showstopper Invitational Virtual Tournament on Saturday, November 20th, 2021. Due to Covid-19 concerns, this year's tournament will be held virtually.

Virtual Tournament Details

All events except for Public Forum Debate with be asynchronous. Public Forum will be held as a synchronous event on Saturday, November 20th.

Novice Reading will welcome any student in their first year of competition competing in Prose Interpretation, Poetry Interpretation and Program Oral Interpretation events.

Impromptu Speaking competitors will receive their prompt on Monday, November 15th at 7:00 p.m. and will have until Tuesday, November 16th at 7:00 p.m. to complete and upload their performance.

Improvisational Duet competitors will receive their prompt on Monday, November 15th at 7:00 p.m. and will have until Tuesday, November 16th at 7:00 p.m. to complete and upload their performance. Students will perform for no less than 5 minutes and no more than 7 minutes in the event. Students will be required to include an intro.

Meet Details

Individual events will be a 3-round (1 judge per round) tournament with a final round (3 judges per final).
Public Forum Debate will be a 4-round (1 judge per round) tournament with a final round (3 judges per final).

Entry Details

Schools are allowed to bring as many entries in each event as they would like. Each contestant is allowed unlimited entries. PFD competitors will be allowed unlimited entries as well.

Confirmation

Please note that registration is a TWO-STEP process. Please pre-register on SpeechEase.com by Friday November 12th, 2021 at 7:00 PM. This will help us determine the total number of schools attending. Your final registration must be received by Tuesday, November 16th, 2021 at 8:00 PM. The Drop/Add Deadline will be Wednesday, November 17th at 3:00 p.m.

There is a surcharge for each entry in the following events:

Judging

One judge for every 6 entries or a fraction thereof. Debate requires 1 judge for every two teams. It is the coaches responsibility to make sure their judges are aware of their assignments and encourage them to finish their judging as soon as possible.

Awards

We will give Sweepstakes awards for the top 3 schools. There will also be individual awards for the top 6 competitors.

Schedule

1) Preliminary rounds for Individual Events will be judged from Wednesday, November 17th through
Friday, November 19th. Judging of all preliminary rounds needs to be completed by 10:00 p.m. EST on
Friday, November 19th.
2) Final rounds postings will take place on Saturday, November 20th by 9:00 a.m. EST
3) Final rounds of Individual Events will begin on Saturday, November 20th at 9:00 a.m. EST All rounds
must be completed by 12:00 noon EST on Saturday, November 20th.
4) Debate finals will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. EST on Saturday, November 20th.
5) Awards ceremony will be @4:00 p.m. EST on Saturday, November 20th.

1) Live Debate rounds will begin at 9:30 a.m. EST on Saturday, November 20th and will following this schedule:
Round 1: 9:30 a.m. EST
Round 2: 10:30 a.m. EST
Round 3: 11:30 a.m. EST
Round 4: 12:30 p.m. EST
2) Finals for debate will be posted by 2:00 p.m. EST on Saturday, November 20th with finals at that time.

AWARDS CEREMONY WILL TAKE PLACE AT 4:00 P.M. EST ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 20TH, 2021
